Listening and Reading Session (Narrative text):
     
Orientation
The Gruffalo Movie
         It is a short movie which tells about a cunning mouse. This movie is from children’s book. There was a mouse which went for a walk in the forest. On his way the mouse met several dangerous animals, a fox, an owl, and a snake which clearly intending to eat the mouse. The cunning mouse declined each offer and told that he had plans to dine with his friend, a gruffalo, a monster-like a half of grizzly bear and half buffalo. Those dangerous animals got frightened that the gruffalo might eat them, each animal flees. Besides that, the gruffalo is fictional which was made by the mouse himself.

Complication
         After getting rid of the last animal, the mouse was shocked to come across a real gruffalo. The gruffalo wanted to eat him, but again the mouse was cunning.
Resolution
The mouse told the gruffalo that he was the scariest animal in the forest. Laughing, the gruffalo agreed to follow the mouse as he demonstrates how feared he was. They met again those animals, a fox, an owl, and a snake, and then those were very frightened and ran off. Exploiting this, the mouse threatened to eat the gruffalo. Then, the gruffalo fled.

-        Students tell about some stories that they have known.
-        Students are given some pictures according to the following movie.
-        Students share their opinion about what the pictures will tell about.
-        With teacher’s guidance, students ask about the movie which will be played.
-        Students share what they have found out from the discussion.
      Collecting data: Main Listening (30’)
-        Students watch the movie once.
-        While watching, students are taking notes.
      Analysing: Post Listening (15’)
-        Students share their opinions about the movie.
-        Students share their understanding about the story.
-        Students’ understanding is tested on online test with teacher’s guidance.
-        Students discuss about the answer of online test.
Main II (Writing Session)
      Summarising (40’)
-        Students summarise the movie as synopsis, according to the guiding questions.
-        Students submit the summary.
Set Closure (5’)
-        Teacher and students conclude what they have learnt today in the class.

Classroom Context Using Google Search Engine



  Purpose                                  :
1.      to assist students on understanding the learning material more.
2.      to inform student about the forthcoming project.
3.      to give students references of learning material.

School                                     : Senior High School

The number of students       : 30

Classroom setting                  :
Learning material will be taught in classroom by using one laptop and a projector. Some occasions, class activity can be done in multimedia laboratory. Nevertheless, students who are involved will use networked computer at home to access the forthcoming assignment or project. The project can be done in classroom or online.

Intended Learning Material             :
1.      Recount text
2.      Descriptive text
3.      Report text
4.      Narrative text

(the material will be shared randomly)

Integrated teaching to Google Search Engine:

This tool is for homework activity; students can study earlier the next material that will be discussed about. Students are also able to search additional material to their knowledge.

How to teach via Google Search Engine:
  1. Ask students to learn about Google Basic Search Feature firstly, before class starts.
  2. Ask students to gather in multimedia rooms.
  3. Get online for every student.
  4. Look some specific things to test students.


For “Be a Storyteller” matter:
Students can search another story for storytelling or look for another easy method: how to be a good story teller.

Some disadvantages also may be appeared, such as uncontrolled classroom, unstable networking, etc.

Our First Project: Be a Storyteller

Integrated teaching to Skype:

This tool is for particular situation. For example, a teacher is not able to attend the class for some reasons, but she or he has time to do that and the target of lesson plan must be done. So, the teacher can use skype to have an online class.

An example of situation needed Skype:
A teacher cannot attend a class to teach because she has been out of town but still able reaching network. So, the teacher start to implement online class.

How to teach via Skype:

  1.  Ask students to gather in multimedia rooms
  2. Get online for every student
  3.  Ask to open skype or other synchronous communication tools.
  4. Start the class activity.

Some disadvantages also may be appeared, such as uncontrolled classroom, unstable networking, etc.
